The Great Barrier Reef is the world's largest reef system.

  • It is 345,000 km2, which makes it larger than all of the United Kingdom

    • Over 1,500 varieties of fish, 411 types of hard coral, 134 types of sharks and rays, and more call the Reef home.

      • The Reef draws in millions of visitors every year. However, global warming, fishing practices, and pollution are all threatening the future of the Reef.
