Loyalists during the American Revolution

 

During the American Revolution, there were some people that remained loyal to Great Britain and the King and these people were called loyalists.

 

These people opposed the revolution and fought against the rebels. It is estimated that about 500,000 or 20% of the white population within the colonies were loyalists.
