Bayard Rustin was an advocate of racial integration and a critic of Malcolm X.

He was openly gay and faced discrimination based on his sexual orientation. This was not just verbal jabs and denial of sam-sex marriage, but Rustin was even arrested and became registered sex offender for his sexual orientation. This was a part of sting operation which discriminatorily target the LGBTQ and African American communities.
